“Being a mother is not what you gave up to have a child, but what you’ve gained from having one.” – Unknown
I was 21 when I had my first child, so I know I didn’t have much of a life before children. But I can’t remember what it was like! Becoming a mother was such an altering experience… I was always looking for a purpose in my life and when I had my children I found it. I love being a MOTHER. I know I am good at it. And yes you! Mama, reading this. You are an amazing mother!
The things that don’t get celebrated on social media that much… They’re just the things that I write about and celebrate. They’re the things that most people don’t see in my daily life. They don’t see you stand in the bathroom every morning and gather yourself together. They don’t see the trips to the car back and forth. They don’t see you look at your bank account and sigh for them. They don’t see you take a deep breath more than ten times a day. They don’t see you walking into the doctors office, friends house, school, and defending your child. They don’t see your child’s foot on your face throughout the night. They don’t see pillows pushed just the right way and blankets tucked to the perfect demands. Tears that sting your eyes as you keep going. Lunches and dinners prepped. Not to mention thinking every day how to be creative in creating a meal! And the list goes on and on…
That doesn’t mean MAMA doesn’t make mistakes. I am a better person because of my children and I am very honored to be their mother. And I wouldn’t trade my best day before kids for my worst day with kids!
So I asked some MAMA’S “What is your favorite thing about being a Mother? And least favorite?”
“The best thing is the smile on their faces when you do something that makes them happy and of course their love for you. And the least favorite is my constant worry about their wellbeing”.
“The best thing is the unconditional love. Least favorite is not having time for myself”.
“The best thing is I have a full house and they are my friends because I don’t have friends. Least favorite is my lack of sleep”.
“For me is that I learn something new everyday from my kids. I learn to be more patient. And of course the least favorite is worrying about them”. -Mimilicious
